This gown is in cream muslin and hand embroidered all over with a sprawling meander. It dates to about 1805 when the fashion for trains was receding. This gown has a slight train.

It is fashioned with a high waist at the front dipping to a lower waist at the back. The back is tightly gathered and the skirt very full.

It has Juliet sleeves, the width gathered into the shoulder. The sleeves are long, and have elegant flaired cuffs with a narrow hem.

The gown is in excellent antique condition. Occasional spots have to be looked for and tend to merge into the embroidery. The waist ties have been replaced with an antique hook and eye, but the neck ties are present. The gown is clean and fresh-loking.

Approximate measurements: Front length 51", back length 56".

Across shoulders: 13". High waist 27", Bust 33"
