This summer pelisse is very rare. It is muslin with hand embroidery and is completely hand worked. It is English or French and dates to about 1810 or a little earlier.
The pelisse is of coat formation. Open down the front and fastened till the high waist with tiny covered buttons. It then flows open with a very full skirt.
It has long sleeves toped with little puff sleeves at the shoulder, and the cuffs are embroidered and turned back in a van dyk fashion.
The back is delightful. Tightly gathered into the Empire waist and again flowing out to form a very full skirt.
There is hand embroidery right down the front opening, and a much deeper band of embroidery around the lower skirt.
The condition is excellent, when one considers the age. Clean and without damage.
Measurements: Laid flat, across shoulders 14". Laid flat, Bust 11". Waist 12" across and length 53"
We should point out that this would have been for a very slim lady. It did not fit our mannequin across the front. Therefore, our apologies for the photos, which in general are not of the best. Please let us know whether any additional ones are needed.
