A very elegant raspberry ribbed silk shawl dating to about 1830. It was probably manufacturered in Macclesfield, England where several silk production factories were located.
The design is flamboyant and stylish and consists of dark cream, purple and green Indian inspired shapes. The dark cream is very luminous, and in candlelight would have glowed like gold.
There is a fringe to both ends which is in good order, as is the whole shawl. Sturdy and suitable to wear or use for decorative purposes.
Measurements: Length 102" width 24"
