An exquisite Regency girls' cream silk dress, English ca. 1815

Code: 10079

An exquisite cream silk dress completely hand-worked with tucks, embroidery and silk ball decoration.

This high-class girls dress must have been expensive at the time it was created. A very lucky little girl would have worn it to a very special party or event.

It is constructed from the best cream silk fabric. The hem consists of 10 hand-sewn tucks, the high bodice is stiched with a hussar-type design and there is back opening with 3 covered buttons. The back shoulders each have an additional decoration of green ribbon bows and the back bodice has hand-stiched tucks flaring out to a full skirt at the back.

The most amazing decoration is the small silk balls on skirt, bodice, sleeves and even on the green ribbon.

This dress is in superb condition and it may well be that it was never worn.

Measurements: Shoulder across 11". High waist across 12". Total lenght: 35" (this was probably for a girl of between 7 and 10 years of age, as dresses for girls at that time were worn just below calf length).
